On this webpage you’ll find frequently updated information regarding the changes required to Business Objects software to accommodate the upcoming change of Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the US and Canada.

Last Update: October 31, 2007

IMPORTANT NOTE: BusinessObjects XI Release 2 - Service Pack (SP) 2 has the EDST patch included. If you have SP2 installed, you do not need to install any other patch for EDST.

What is happening?

The United States Energy Policy Act of 2005 was signed into law on August 8, 2005. Under the new law, DST begins three weeks earlier than previously, on the second Sunday in March and is extended by one week to the first Sunday in November. The new start and stop period begins March 2007. This change affects the United States, Canada and Bermuda. However, we are recommending that all customers download and install the appropriate patches. This change in beginning and end date for DST in the US impacts several Business Objects products and will require customers to download and patch their systems.

Requirements prior to Business Objects Patch Installation:

In addition to the Business Objects patch, you will need to apply the extended Daylight Saving Time (EDST) patches for your operating system and JVM and Application Servers in order for the Business Objects patches to take effect. Please contact your vendors for the latest information.
